The design of the mechanical seal consists mainly of two parts: a movable and a fixed part. The fixed part is usually a ring that is fixed in the pump housing. The movable part is mounted on the shaft and is compressed by means of a spring to the stationary part. Sealing with a mechanical seal is achieved with the help of secondary seals (bellows, rubber rings) and friction pairs. When choosing a mechanical seal, it is important to choose the material of secondary seals and friction pairs.

Materials of mechanical mechanical seals of Inox shaft

    Rubber material:
  • NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber), temperature resistance -20 to +120C
  • EPDM (ethylene propylene rubber), temperature resistance -30 to +170C
  • Viton (fluoro rubber), temperature resistance -30 to +185C
  • PTFE (fluoroplast), temperature resistance -260 to +260C
    Friction pairs
  • SUS – metal (stainless steel)
  • CAR – graphite
  • CER – ceramics
  • SIC – Silicon carbide
  • TС – tungsten carbide

Visually, it is difficult to understand how these materials differ from each other (except fluoroplast), so it is easier to get the material from taking into account the pumped medium and its temperature. Contact us, we will help you determine the material and choose the right mechanical seal for the Inox pump.
