Two-stage POMPETRAVAINI TRH - TRS - TRM - TRV – SA pumps can be equipped with either a mechanical shaft seal or gland packing. The advantage of these pumps is the reduced shaft length, which eliminates the risk of shaft deflection and mechanical seal vibration, thereby extending the service life of both the seals and bearings. All pumps are designed to accommodate standardized mechanical seals in accordance with DIN 24960. Upon request, versions with double mechanical seals (tandem or back-to-back) or cartridge-type mechanical seals are also available.

Mechanical seals can be manufactured from various materials. Therefore, for proper selection, it is recommended to contact the specialists of BTS Engineering.

Important! Mechanical seals must never operate dry, i.e. without sealing or flushing liquid. Dry running causes the sliding faces and elastomer components to seize, resulting in irreversible damage. It is recommended to inspect the wear of the contacting surfaces of the mechanical seals approximately every 4,000 operating hours.

The Lowara ESHE 65-160/75/P25VSNW pump from XYLEM ITT Group is a single-stage centrifugal pump made of stainless steel, designed for pumping water and moderately aggressive liquids.

The most common seal type used in LOWARA ESHS pumps is the R-BT.FN.NU or R-BT-RN3.NU, a single, unbalanced mechanical seal with a conical spring.

The advantages of this seal design include its simple, efficient, and cost-effective construction, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.

The following material combinations are typically used:

• VBV (ceramic/carbon graphite/FKM) – for non-abrasive liquids with oxidizing properties, where no significant temperature fluctuations occur;
• VBE (ceramic/carbon graphite/EPDM) – for non-abrasive neutral liquids (primarily water supply applications), where no significant temperature fluctuations occur;

• QBV (silicon carbide/carbon graphite/FKM) – for non-abrasive acidic media, oils, applications with possible dry running and temperature fluctuations, temperature range from −20 °C to +200 °C;
• QQE (silicon carbide/silicon carbide/EPDM) – for abrasive neutral or alkaline media, alcohols, and cleaning agents, temperature range from −50 °C to +130 °C;
• QQV (silicon carbide/silicon carbide/FKM) – for abrasive acidic media, oils, and lubricants, temperature range from −20 °C to +200 °C.

KSB Omega pumps are single-stage double-suction pumps with a volute casing and a radial impeller.

Shaft sealing type: gland packing or mechanical seal. To protect the shaft in the sealing area, protective sleeves are installed to ensure proper centering of the mechanical seals. In the KSB Omega 150-605 B DD35 G1 pump, the mechanical seal item 433 is of type M74N4/070 Q1Q1VMG4 01162414. Due to the symmetrical pump design, two such mechanical seals are used.

We carried out the replacement of the mechanical seal of a vertical multistage Calpeda MXV 80 pump, using the BTS Engineering mechanical seal R-BT-RN3.NU 22, CAR/SIC, EPDM, 304.

The Grundfos CM 150-350-260-30.0 480308 circulation pump is equipped with a mechanical seal type 2100S.

Thanks to its hydraulic characteristics and compact dimensions, the Dreno Compatta series manufactured in Italy is an optimal solution for pumping domestic wastewater. In the standard version, the shaft sealing is implemented by a lip seal on the motor side and a mechanical seal on the impeller side. The maximum permissible liquid temperature is 40 °C with the pump fully submerged.

When replacing the mechanical seal in the Dreno COMPATTA 4T pump, we used the pump shaft seal R-MG1 14, SIC/SIC, VITON, 304, D.

EBARA 3M pumps are mainly used for: water supply, pressure boosting, air conditioning, washing, irrigation, swimming pools, etc. In our case, the pump transfers brewing wort. A standard seal (GRAPHITE / CERAMIC / NBR) was used, which is not suitable for this medium (brewing wort). We replaced this seal with a BTS Engineering Ebara 3MHS mechanical shaft seal.
